Methylglyoxal stress contributes to immunosuppression in triple negative breast cancer 
Prof. Akeila Bellahcène is a Research Director (National Fund for Scientific Research) at GIGA-Research Institute (University of Liège, Belgium). She is pharmacist and holds a PhD degree in experimental biomedical sciences. Her research focus is to explore the functions of oncometabolites - with a special interest in methylglyoxal - and their implication in cancer progression, metastasis development and therapy resistance. The demonstration of the relevance of such metabolites as biomarkers and/or therapeutic targets in cancer is the subject of intense research and holds great promise.
