Dr. Kim Maasen
Dietary dicarbonyls: friends or foes of human health?
Dr Maasen received her PhD in 2022 under guidance of Prof Casper Schalkwijk at the department of Internal Medicine, Maastricht. Her PhD focused on role of dietary dicarbonyls on health, mainly in the development of type 2 diabetes, using data from large human cohorts. As part of her PhD she collaborated with the International Agency for the Research on Cancer (IARC/WHO, Lyon, France), where she continued working as a postdoctoral researcher before moving to her current position as a postdoctoral researcher at the department of Human Nutrition at Wageningen University.
